Beach day

While Kristin was at work today, the rest of the Herilino crew went to the beach. Andie enjoyed the feel of the coarse sand.   Hawkeye got lots of fetching in. And Jason got some climbing in. Papa thought this was a nice day to celebrate his 62nd day of retirement. A good time was had by all.

Pizza & ready to crawl

Andie added pizza to her list of foods yesterday, doing right by her New York family heritage. Kristin spent her first night away from Andie last night to throw a bachelorette party for Auntie Ellie. Everyone survived! Andie seems to be pretty close to crawling these days, making Kristin and Jason wonder if they're going to have to dedicate some time to better baby-proofing soon.

Squeals of delight

Andie has been making some pretty delightful noises lately:

Relaxing day

We had a relaxing day today. Papa took his first cycle since moving to California. He visited Alfred Hitchcock in Bodega. Today Andie wore her abalone onesie from friends Morgan and Kristin while showing off some fancy footwork. She and Nana had fun throwing the ball for Hawkeye. And we all did lots of laughing:

Good vibes for Nancy

We paid a visit to Henry and Nancy today to wish Nancy well after her knee surgery.  Andie and Nancy had lots to say to one another: We wish her a speedy recovery!

Visitors, play time, and new foods

We had a visit from our friends Ken and Catherine yesterday. Andie loved meeting them and their cute dog, Mojave. While Kristin went to work today, Andie had fun with Jason, Hawkeye, Nana, and Papa. She pretended she was a cowgirl and Hawkeye was a bucking bronco. She also pretended she was E.T., hiding in Kristin's 80's-era stuffed animals (yes, that's Snuggles the fabric softener bear, Littlefoot the dinosaur, ballerina Troll Doll, and Cheer Bear the Care Bear). While she napped, she dreamt about bicycling with Papa. Andie has recently added applesauce and peaches to her list of foods. She is an enthusiastic eater! She is growing so fast!

Five months old!

Andie turned five months old yesterday! She likes to grab her toes, especially her left ones. She really likes cruising around on her tummy. Sometimes it seems like she could start crawling at any moment. She is also still loving plums! Tonight, Andie attended her first ever Bodega Bat Stars game. The other team didn't show up, but the Bat Stars scrimmaged, anyway. Papa even got to do some hitting and fielding for the first time since Kristin played for the Purple People Eaters way back in the 90's. Andie had fun making new friends at the game. It was Kristin's first time back on the field since Andie was born, and she was happy to make it for the team photo.

Gravenstein Apple Fair

We went to the Gravenstein Apple Fair in Sebastopol today. Kristin, Andie, and some apples shaped like an apple Andie got to pretend to be a bumble bee. Kristin and her baby bee After all the excitement, it was time to take a nap on Papa's shoulder. Andie and Papa This evening, Andie had fun playing underneath the table. She's getting very mobile! She finished off the weekend with a bath.

Bubbles, birthday, and babysitee

Jason is in the middle of teaching his two-week intensive research diving class at the lab. Yesterday, he brought in Andie so she could help demonstrate how to dive using a full face mask. We also celebrated Hawkeye's 5th birthday yesterday! Happy birthday, Hawkeye! As an extra special treat, Kristin and Andie got to meet up with a good friend from Iowa for dinner. Kristin used to babysit Lauren and her brother Colin when they were all kiddos. It was wonderful to catch up! Andie and Lauren Andie thinks it's lots of fun having her grandparents here. She likes being silly with Papa:

Farmer's market

Andie took her first trip to the Occidental Farmer's Market today. She liked watching all of the people, and she loved eating the red bell peppers in the paella. She also liked gumming on Papa's water bottle. On the way home, our neighbor Tim generously gave us a box of yummy plums from his tree. Andie has been enjoying relaxing with her feet up during stroller rides recently. It was a nice walk to and from the market. Andie would like to give a shout out today to our friend Nancy, who is recovering from knee surgery -- Lots of love and hopes for very speedy rehab!
