Roaming free & all stuffed up

Andie loves driving the Jeep that Grandma brought her a few months ago. Today, she took it for a spin on the driveway. It was Andie's first time driving the Jeep anywhere but the enclosed deck, and since steering is still a bit freeform for her, Jason made sure she didn't crash on anything on the way down. Jack was impressed. We are very happy that Jack is feeling better! On Monday night, he ended up coming down with the cold the rest of us had the week before. He and Kristin spent the better part of a night in the bathroom with the hot shower running to help him breathe. A trip to the pediatrician in the morning confirmed his vitals were all good, and he has steadily improved since.  He is thrilled to be able to breathe through his nose again! Jack even felt well enough to have his first trip out to eat on Thursday night. Andie took him to her favorite place with her favorite people: Barley and Hops with Tashi, Naom...

Adjusting to baby

Becoming a big sister is hard. Some days/minutes it's the best thing ever, and some days/minutes it's the pits. On Friday, Andie proclaimed, "I don’t want a baby brother anymore. Please not have baby brother anymore?” And on Sunday, “I want two babies. Please grow ‘nother baby in your belly, Mommy?” We've been trying to give Andie lots of special attention. Yesterday, she went on an adventure with Jason and Hawkeye to the bakery in Duncans Mills. Afterward she got to go to the Farmhouse to see Uncle James, Aunt Ellie, and Penny. The whole thing tuckered her out! She has had some really sweet moments with baby brother, and overall is really loving having him in her life. Jack continues to be pretty chill about it all. Jason is also adjusting well to having another baby in the house. He has even come up with novel uses for Jack's swaddlers.

Snuggles and sniffles

One challenge of welcoming a second child into the world is that it's a little more difficult to keep germs out of the house. Andie brought home a nice head cold from daycare last week that we've all been passing around. Luckily it has spared Jack so far, but the rest of us went down pretty hard. Kristin and Andie made popsicles to soothe their sore throats. Kristin practiced some self care with some Harry Potter and throat coat tea. Andie's version of self-care was getting a mani-pedi from Papa. She did his hair while he painted her toes. Andie also made sure to take lots of warm baths to help ease her aches and pains. And we all did lots of napping. We even had times during the day when both kids were sleeping at the same time! Can you spot three sleeping beasts in this photo? With all of our time resting at home, it has been really nice having the Olympics on. It sure beats usual daytime television! ...
