Roaming free & all stuffed up

Andie loves driving the Jeep that Grandma brought her a few months ago. Today, she took it for a spin on the driveway.

It was Andie's first time driving the Jeep anywhere but the enclosed deck, and since steering is still a bit freeform for her, Jason made sure she didn't crash on anything on the way down.

Jack was impressed.

We are very happy that Jack is feeling better! On Monday night, he ended up coming down with the cold the rest of us had the week before. He and Kristin spent the better part of a night in the bathroom with the hot shower running to help him breathe.

A trip to the pediatrician in the morning confirmed his vitals were all good, and he has steadily improved since. He is thrilled to be able to breathe through his nose again!

Jack even felt well enough to have his first trip out to eat on Thursday night. Andie took him to her favorite place with her favorite people: Barley and Hops with Tashi, Naomi, and Jay. Thanks to Sophie for the gift certificate!

We have been eating well this week: We got to have dinner at Rita's on Monday night, and today Gary and Sheri visited and brought a delicious meal for us.

Jack continues to be a very chill baby, giving everyone lots of good snuggles.

Andie is making sure no one misses out on any of her wonderful snuggles, too.

She continues to be a great big sister, and is being very helpful, especially when asked to assist with tasks like frosting cake with Nani.

Kristin has noticed that maternity leave often involves being surrounded by contrasting patterns.

She is really missing everyone at the lab, but is grateful for technology that lets her feel like she's still part of the action. Here she is FaceTiming with part of the white abalone crew. You can see a cameo from Jason and Jack in the upper right.

Jason is spending a bit of time at the lab here and there, and Kristin hopes to make her first physical appearance there with Jack next week!

Changes

There have been a lot of changes over the past six weeks in the Herilino household. Perhaps the biggest is that Nani and Papa moved out! We were so happy to take them in after the fire, and we are even happier that they have found a new place of their own to call home (especially because it isn't in Iowa). They are again just a short drive away in Santa Rosa, and they even promised to still babysit one day a week. Nani and Papa really enjoyed spreading out after being relegated to such tight quarters at the Herilino house. Although they didn't have too much stuff to move, Andie helped them unpack some of their new things. She liked how the packing material stuck to their clean windows. They don't have much in the way of furniture yet either, but Nani and Papa made sure Andie felt comfortable by stocking their house with new toys, a kid's table, and a potty seat. We are already having lots of fun hanging out there. Andie loved trying ou...

Farmhouse

Team Herilino had a fun-filled trip to the little red farmhouse this weekend to see wonderful friends. Andie got to see her buddy Sam, who she hadn't seen since she was six months old. Andie and Sam, July 2016 Andie and Sam, September 2015 They got reaquainted via some hand touching. It was the perfect coastal summer day. We ate some tasty food -- Andie particularly enjoyed the strawberries. Andie showed everyone how to boogie to the music. They picked up her instruction quickly. Jason taught Andie to skateboard. Andie was very excited to join the big kids for a round of frisbee golf on the hillsides beyond the fence. The frisbee crew She loved riding the wagon full of discs back to the house. Steve took some drone footage of the surroundings while we were golfing (you can see the footage here: https://www.skypixel.com/share/video/the-farm-house-171c2db9-64b8-486c-bb59-8c4...

More visitors and first real bath

Andie met Uncle Joe and Auntie Sue yesterday. It was wonderful to have them visit, and we wish they could have stayed longer! They brought some delicious Kalua Pork and lemon bars, and even made a run to Wild Flour Bread this morning for some breakfast treats! Andie had her first bath in her infant tub last night, and she loved it! She lost her umbilical cord stump a little over a week ago, so she can finally submerge her cute little belly button. She's clearly well on her way to dive training!
