July 2017

July was full of more outdoor fun and lots of abalone adventures. Kristin went down to long beach to try to spawn some abalone in early July. While she was there, she got some awesome gifts related to her NOAA Species in the Spotlight Hero Award, including a White Abalone cape and a plush white abalone puppet. In mid-July, Kristin took the whole family to Monterey so she could give a talk at the aquarium and visit an abalone farm. On the way, we stopped to see Steve, Cecil, and Piper in Santa Cruz. The girls had fun catching up! Visiting the Monterey Abalone Company was awesome, albiet a bit sketchy under the dock with a 2-year-old. Andie was appropriately exhausted after the trip. UC Davis made a cool video using footage from Kristin's July abalone adventures for a Washington Post piece . Andie enjoyed spending more time with Tashi outside of daycare. June 2017

June was full of outdoor adventures, including gardening, the Sonoma-Marin Fair, and trips to the park, beach, and Occidental Farmers Market. Perhaps the biggest excitement of the month for Andie was getting her own Camelbak from Kristin and Jason's boss, Gary. She wore it wherever she went: In the pool,  in the sandbox, and out to the garden. She even came up with innovative uses for it, like carrying her baby dolls. In addition to the Camelbak, Andie got some new star-shaped shades she looked pretty snazzy in. She made sure to wear them  (without much else)  to the beach with Nani and Papa. She is starting to have much more of an opinion about what she wears,* and she likes sporting earrings and necklaces 'like mommy.'
