July was full of more outdoor fun and lots of abalone adventures.
Kristin went down to long beach to try to spawn some abalone in early July.
While she was there, she got some awesome gifts related to her NOAA Species in the Spotlight Hero Award, including a White Abalone cape and a plush white abalone puppet.
In mid-July, Kristin took the whole family to Monterey so she could give a talk at the aquarium and visit an abalone farm. On the way, we stopped to see Steve, Cecil, and Piper in Santa Cruz. The girls had fun catching up!
Visiting the Monterey Abalone Company was awesome, albiet a bit sketchy under the dock with a 2-year-old.
Andie was appropriately exhausted after the trip.
UC Davis made a cool video using footage from Kristin's July abalone adventures for a Washington Post piece.
Andie enjoyed spending more time with Tashi outside of daycare. We had a trip to Hopmonk, where they threw lots of pennies into the fountain.
Kristin, Tashi, and Naomi also took Andie to the pool for the first time. Andie loved learning to swim!
Hawkeye made sure to get some time in with friends, too. While the rest of the family was in Monterey, he had fun with James, Ellie, Nacho, and Penny at the Farmhouse.
The garden was very productive in July. Andie loved finding ripe strawberries.
She got a brand new helmet for wearing while adventuring, hopefully including some horseback riding.
If she could just be convinced to wear pants with it ...
Andie continued to wear her Camelbak at every opportunity, and discovered she could use it as a front carrier for her baby doll.
It even worked while driving!
One of Andie's favorite activities these days is playing a cupcake-making game on Nani's iPad. Here she is teaching Papa how to play.
Uncle Chuck came down to help Jason re-side the garage and replace the windows. It was a big project, and despite the visual evidence, everything went smoothly.
Andie enjoyed playing in her stroller in the garage while everyone worked.
Happy summer!
