Fun with forts and stairs

Andie, Hawkeye, and Kristin had fun together while Jason was away teaching a class last week. They built lots of forts in the living room.







They also made a terrace out of the cushions. Andie loved crawling up and down and up and down!


Kristin, Andie, and Hawkeye took advantage of a sunny day to take a walk and check out the waterfalls.




Andie and Kristin also spent some time just giggling together. It was marvelous. (Sorry for the shaky camera skills -- Kristin might have been making some funny movements to elicit Andie's giggles.)



One of Andie's favorite toys right now is an orange seastar from her good buddy Beth.


She also loves the bus her Aunt Ashley, Uncle Andy, and cousins got her for Christmas. She likes to act like King Kong and terrify the passengers.



Andie has been a ravenous devourer of books lately. Litera(r)lly. 


Andie and Hawkeye have been interacting more. Hawkeye is very patient with Andie, and they're pretty good at sharing food with one another.




We had a nice walk with Jason when he came home. Of course, Andie had trouble staying awake.



Andie's communication skills continue to improve. In addition to saying "dog" and "Hawkeye", she also says "Mama" and "Dada" discriminately, and she's very good at clapping, waving goodbye, and signing "milk" (though often not discriminately). In the area of motor development, she's recently discovered stairs, and she's pretty good at them! She's been practicing the ones on the deck in front of her house, and yesterday she tried out the ones at Nana and Papa's house.

Changes

There have been a lot of changes over the past six weeks in the Herilino household. Perhaps the biggest is that Nani and Papa moved out! We were so happy to take them in after the fire, and we are even happier that they have found a new place of their own to call home (especially because it isn't in Iowa). They are again just a short drive away in Santa Rosa, and they even promised to still babysit one day a week. Nani and Papa really enjoyed spreading out after being relegated to such tight quarters at the Herilino house. Although they didn't have too much stuff to move, Andie helped them unpack some of their new things. She liked how the packing material stuck to their clean windows. They don't have much in the way of furniture yet either, but Nani and Papa made sure Andie felt comfortable by stocking their house with new toys, a kid's table, and a potty seat. Pizza & ready to crawl

Andie added pizza to her list of foods yesterday, doing right by her New York family heritage. Kristin spent her first night away from Andie last night to throw a bachelorette party for Auntie Ellie. Everyone survived! Andie seems to be pretty close to crawling these days, making Kristin and Jason wonder if they're going to have to dedicate some time to better baby-proofing soon.
