Up and down

Andie loves to climb -- stairs, stools, step ladders, you name it. She really liked climbing on all of the play structures at the mall last week, and watched the bigger kids carefully to try to learn some new tricks.

Kristin helped her climb up on the horses (I think she had more fun on them than she let on...).

She also recently learned to climb on top of the coffee canister.

Look at me, Dad!

One leg!

Resting

Naturally, what goes up must come down. She got a pretty good goose egg on her noggin this week after a misstep on the stairs, but as with last week's black eye, she wore it well.

Andie has been a spectacular eater recently. We're pretty sure she either has a hollow leg or is about to go through a massive growth spurt. Here she is devouring some tostada.

No matter how hungry she is though, she always makes sure to share some of her food with big brother Hawkeye.

Andie and Hawkeye are good buddies.

Andie has started to enjoy her stuffed animals more. She especially likes her stuffed polar bear and her stuffed dog (no surprise!). She is also interacting more with her giant teddy from her great-grandpa.

As usual, we've had lots of outdoor time and lots of naps in the past week.

Kristin contemplates why she's the only one awake

Kristin and Jason are super excited that Andie has finally started to make herself useful. She has been doing a great job of retrieving items on command over the past week. Cell phones, belts, stuffed animals, and more. It's about time she started to pull her weight around here!

Deck reconstruction

The deck attached to the Herilino Annex was rotting away, so Uncle Chuck visited again to help give it an overhaul. Uncle Joe and cousin Karen generously helped out, and baby Andie even chipped in! Making a plan Demo nearly completed Adding new boards Finishing up the new railing Breaking for beer and strawberries More demo-ing Kristin and Andie were a little scared for Uncle Joe up there on those narrow old boards! Turning a deck into a roof Andie even helped to finish it all off! Ha, just kidding!  That's Jason's Cabbage Patch doll up there. Did you really think Jason would carry the baby on the roof? Sheesh, what kind of parents do you think Kristin and Jason are? Jason and Elden This post was created especially for Nana and Grandma Jane. Our apologies for any adverse health effects it may have triggered.

Changes

There have been a lot of changes over the past six weeks in the Herilino household. Perhaps the biggest is that Nani and Papa moved out! We were so happy to take them in after the fire, and we are even happier that they have found a new place of their own to call home (especially because it isn't in Iowa). They are again just a short drive away in Santa Rosa, and they even promised to still babysit one day a week. Nani and Papa really enjoyed spreading out after being relegated to such tight quarters at the Herilino house. Although they didn't have too much stuff to move, Andie helped them unpack some of their new things. She liked how the packing material stuck to their clean windows. They don't have much in the way of furniture yet either, but Nani and Papa made sure Andie felt comfortable by stocking their house with new toys, a kid's table, and a potty seat. We are already having lots of fun hanging out there. Andie loved trying ou...

Pizza & ready to crawl

Andie added pizza to her list of foods yesterday, doing right by her New York family heritage. Kristin spent her first night away from Andie last night to throw a bachelorette party for Auntie Ellie. Everyone survived! Andie seems to be pretty close to crawling these days, making Kristin and Jason wonder if they're going to have to dedicate some time to better baby-proofing soon.
