We have so much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving weekend: Family, friends, community, nature.
We are thankful for Andie's buddies, including Shayne. It's so nice to watch them grow together, and they have a whale of a time together!
... and other various activities.
Jason even showed off his Super Dad skills by rescuing this beetle from an abalone shell respiratory pore. Kristin thought if he had gotten a video of the rescue it surely would have gone viral.
Andie loved taking Nana and Papa on her first trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium! She found some familiar items.
Nana and Papa said Andie loved everything there! She tried so hard to soak it all in, and eventually passed out in front of the otters. Luckily, she got to go to the aquarium for a second time that same evening when Kristin and Jason went for their conference. ... she promptly passed out again.
Nana and Papa were thankful for some beach time with Andie while Kristin and Jason were in meetings.
Andie was thankful to learn which beverages fuel science meetings: Starting the day with some caffeine...
... and ending with same sake.
Andie was thankful for the phone in the hotel so she could keep up with the goings on at home by calling "Tah-She" (Natasha), "Wy-Wy" (Wyatt), and her other friends from daycare.
She concluded that conferences are fun but exhausting!
Thankfully, it wouldn't be dinner with Papa without some ice cream for dessert.
Andie was super thankful to get to visit Sophie and the horses twice in the past week.
... and Andie took Grandma on the second visit.
Since Maren was home for Thanksgiving, Andie got to go for a ride on Maggie! She loved it. It's a good thing Kristin wasn't there because she would have been moderately terrified (how small do they make riding helmets?).
Happy Thanksgiving from Team Herilino!

Kristin is thankful for having Andie's help in the kitchen. Andie is getting very good at stirring ingredients together.
Andie is thankful that Kristin and Jason let her express her own style when she is in the kitchen.
Andie is thankful for her adventures with Jason, like having a bonfire in the upgraded fire pit...
... building a box fort ...
... and other various activities.

We were all very thankful to have Nana and Papa join Team Herilino at a conference in Monterey.
Everyone enjoyed some time at the beach.
Kristin, Jason, and Andie took a photo next to the stuffed otter they had posed with back in January 2009, a few months after they had started dating.

When we got back to Nana and Papa's house, Papa taught Andie how to honk the horn. Kristin and Jason did not feel very thankful about this turn of events.
We had some good meals with Nana and Papa over the past few weeks, including the trout that Papa was thankful to catch at Lake Almanor.
Thankfully, it wouldn't be dinner with Papa without some ice cream for dessert.
We were so thankful that Grandma and Grandpa got to spend Thanksgiving week with us! Andie loved showing them her new toys.
Andie made sure to get in lots of snuggy time with Grandma.

Andie was very helpful in preparing for Thanksgiving. She moved these buckets all over the pace.
We deep-fried a couple of turkeys for the fourth year in a row.
While the turkey cooked, Andie decided to do some serenading while using the bicycle pump as a microphone. Thankfully, Nana had her phone on hand to document both the warm-up and her on-stage, in-the-lime-light performance.
We had a wonderful crowd, and we are so thankful for the family and friends-that-feel-like-family that shared Thanksgiving fixings with us.
We were also thankful for the delicious desserts ...
... complete with adorable carrot crustaceans!
One part of the evening that Kristin was most thankful for was when Aunt Ellie taught everyone how to hang triple spoons. Such talent!
Papa couldn't quite get it and managed to poke himself in the eye with one of the spoons.
Andie was thankful Nana was willing to share her ice cream.
It has been nice to have a few fall days at home to relax.
Andie made sure to polish off all of the leftover Thanksgiving sparkling cider.
She also took a long, recuperative nap.
Hawkeye tried to sneak some alone time in Andie's tent...
... but Andie found him ...
... and demanded Jason come on board, too. Thankfully, the stuffed animals had been thrown overboard, so the ship wasn't overweighted.
Happy Thanksgiving from Team Herilino!
