'Tis the Season

The Holiday Season is here, and that meant scouting out the perfect tree last week. We really liked this one that looked like it was straight out of a Dr. Suess book ...

... but we settled on this one that looked like it could hold more of our ornaments.

Jason got a workout cutting it down.

The Christmas tree farm had lots of festive decorations.

Kristin picked up a sprig of mistletoe with the tree.

It worked well until Jason licked her face.

Andie loved helping to decorate the tree, especially seeing the lights! When Kristin tested the light strip in the outlet before trimming the tree with it, Andie was beside herself seeing it glow!

She especially liked the bobbers on the tree.

Kristin and Andie had fun at Nancy's house for cookie decorating ...

... Andie was much more interested in the neighbor's kitty that was visiting than the cookies.

She liked the plants, too.

After the cat left, she showed everyone how to eat the cookies frosting first.

Jason organized the talent show for the lab's holiday party was last week, and Andie had fun helping him practice his act. She's a bit of a ham.

Andie got some work done in Kristin's office before the holiday party started.

She also checked out the surf in the cove.

She was super appreciative that uncle James taught her how to open chocolate candies all by herself after the party.

There were so many delicious treats to eat!

We've had some nice times visiting with friends and family over the past couple of weeks, including Uncle James and Aunt Ellie. Andie even helped Aunt Ellie cook dinner at the Farmhouse.

In other recent events, Andie has been enjoying taking Hawkeye for walks lately. (Hawkeye would prefer being off-leash.)

She is also getting pretty good at selfies.

And she doesn't love being dressed these days.

She was super stoked about the fantastic new book, Bob is a Unicorn, and accompanying stuffed animal from her good buddies Beth and Casey. She even learned to say, "Bob."

Kristin was thrilled to find out that Bob's unicorn horn fit on her head, too!

Hawkeye has been enjoying hanging out in Andie's fort lately ... until Andie joins him.

Kristin is away pretending to be a marine scientist for a few days.

As usual, Jason has done a great job keeping them updated his and Andie's adventures while she is away.

Happy holidays!!!

Deck reconstruction

The deck attached to the Herilino Annex was rotting away, so Uncle Chuck visited again to help give it an overhaul. Uncle Joe and cousin Karen generously helped out, and baby Andie even chipped in! Making a plan Demo nearly completed Adding new boards Finishing up the new railing Breaking for beer and strawberries More demo-ing Kristin and Andie were a little scared for Uncle Joe up there on those narrow old boards! Turning a deck into a roof Andie even helped to finish it all off! Ha, just kidding!  That's Jason's Cabbage Patch doll up there. Did you really think Jason would carry the baby on the roof? Sheesh, what kind of parents do you think Kristin and Jason are? Jason and Elden This post was created especially for Nana and Grandma Jane. Our apologies for any adverse health effects it may have triggered.

Changes

There have been a lot of changes over the past six weeks in the Herilino household. Perhaps the biggest is that Nani and Papa moved out! We were so happy to take them in after the fire, and we are even happier that they have found a new place of their own to call home (especially because it isn't in Iowa). They are again just a short drive away in Santa Rosa, and they even promised to still babysit one day a week. Nani and Papa really enjoyed spreading out after being relegated to such tight quarters at the Herilino house. Although they didn't have too much stuff to move, Andie helped them unpack some of their new things. She liked how the packing material stuck to their clean windows. They don't have much in the way of furniture yet either, but Nani and Papa made sure Andie felt comfortable by stocking their house with new toys, a kid's table, and a potty seat. We are already having lots of fun hanging out there. Andie loved trying ou...

Pizza & ready to crawl

Andie added pizza to her list of foods yesterday, doing right by her New York family heritage. Kristin spent her first night away from Andie last night to throw a bachelorette party for Auntie Ellie. Everyone survived! Andie seems to be pretty close to crawling these days, making Kristin and Jason wonder if they're going to have to dedicate some time to better baby-proofing soon.
