Hanging at home

Team Herlino has been battling bouts of sickness over the past couple of weeks, so we've been spending lots of time at home. It has been fun spending some down time together!

Andie, Hawkeye, and Kristin enjoyed a stretch of sunshine in between rain storms.

Andie has especailly been loving hanging with her big brother Hawkeye lately.

She recently learned he becomes extra bouncy after he plays fetch.

Hawkeye continues to be the most tolerant dog in the world. Kristin apologized to him for the nearly-two-year-old riding him backwards, but hoped he would be consoled by the fact that a good portion of America might empathize with him...

When rain returned, Andie, Hawkeye, and Kristin continued to enjoy the outdoors.

It's tough work playing all day together.

Andie has been requesting selfies a lot lately, and naturally, Hawkeye doesn't want to be left out of the fun.

Hawkeye also likes to listen to Kristin and Jason read books to Andie. Here, Kristin explains to Andie why the pinnipeds depicted in Mercer Mayer's books are actually sea lions, not seals, as is in the text.

Andie continues to be super helpful in the kitchen. She even knows how to tell apart Jason and Kristin's personal pizzas.

We've also had some fantastic pizza made by Richard at our neighbor Rita's house recently. Rita generously got Andie a REAL microphone for Christmas, and Andie loves plugging it into Jason's PA system and belting out her original tunes. This one is called "Heart".

She's looking forward to getting back to daycare this week so she can see her friends and make music and art with them, like this amazing pig with googly eyes and a curlicue tail.

She's ready to take on the world.

  1. I love her song! When did she get so big?

  2. I don't know, but her recent discovery of coat and pants pockets really seems to accelerated the bigness, and reminds me of the first time I saw a pic of Lorelei with her hands in her pockets and thought the same thing!

Deck reconstruction

The deck attached to the Herilino Annex was rotting away, so Uncle Chuck visited again to help give it an overhaul. Uncle Joe and cousin Karen generously helped out, and baby Andie even chipped in! Making a plan Demo nearly completed Adding new boards Finishing up the new railing Breaking for beer and strawberries More demo-ing Kristin and Andie were a little scared for Uncle Joe up there on those narrow old boards! Turning a deck into a roof Andie even helped to finish it all off! Ha, just kidding!  That's Jason's Cabbage Patch doll up there. Did you really think Jason would carry the baby on the roof? Sheesh, what kind of parents do you think Kristin and Jason are? Jason and Elden This post was created especially for Nana and Grandma Jane. Our apologies for any adverse health effects it may have triggered.

Changes

There have been a lot of changes over the past six weeks in the Herilino household. Perhaps the biggest is that Nani and Papa moved out! We were so happy to take them in after the fire, and we are even happier that they have found a new place of their own to call home (especially because it isn't in Iowa). They are again just a short drive away in Santa Rosa, and they even promised to still babysit one day a week. Nani and Papa really enjoyed spreading out after being relegated to such tight quarters at the Herilino house. Although they didn't have too much stuff to move, Andie helped them unpack some of their new things. She liked how the packing material stuck to their clean windows. They don't have much in the way of furniture yet either, but Nani and Papa made sure Andie felt comfortable by stocking their house with new toys, a kid's table, and a potty seat. We are already having lots of fun hanging out there. Andie loved trying ou...

Pizza & ready to crawl

Andie added pizza to her list of foods yesterday, doing right by her New York family heritage. Kristin spent her first night away from Andie last night to throw a bachelorette party for Auntie Ellie. Everyone survived! Andie seems to be pretty close to crawling these days, making Kristin and Jason wonder if they're going to have to dedicate some time to better baby-proofing soon.
