Two years old!

Andie turned two years old! She received a fitting crown in the mail from Ann Marie and Jeff.

We had a party to celebrate Andie's second trip around the sun. Hawkeye had a great start to the party when Nana had an oops moment while preparing the chili.

It was a perfect, sunny day amidst all the rain we had this winter.

Andie was super excited to have her dear friend, Tashi, from daycare celebrate her birthday with her.

Andie was also honored to have Bill and Judy drive all the way from Oregon for her party. She loved the swag new wheels they brought with them!

She rides it around all the time!

We were also super honored to have Darlene, the fantastic nurse practitioner who took care of Kristin and Andie while Kristin was pregnant, and Connie, the wonderful doula who helped Kristin and Andie through labor and delivery, join us for Andie's birthday celebration. Kristin's main regret of the day was failing to snap a pic of these incredible women with Andie, but she feels oodles of warm fuzzies from having them there.

Andie thought it was pretty awesome to get to eat sugar all day long.

Andie was a trooper all day, but crashed pretty hard after Tashi went home.

Papa took a snooze, too.

With the help of some more sugar, Andie got a second wind later in the afternoon, and enjoyed spending time with family.

Hawkeye was pretty sure the party was for him, and might have received just as many sugary treats as Andie did.

Andie got to open a couple of presents before bed from Grandma and Grandpa and Tashi.

She enjoyed a final bit of sugar from Nancy and some singing before calling it a night.

Andie is finally getting a hang of the whole 'opening presents' thing. She loves all of the new books, toys, and clothes she got for her birthday.

Between spawning abalone and teaching scuba classes, Kristin and Jason have been a bit busy lately (hence all of the catch-up in this blog post). We were very fortunate to have Grandma Jane and Auntie Sue visit to help us though an exceptionally busy time a few weeks ago.

Grandma got some nice photos of Andie during their visit ...

... and they had a nice time at Doran Beach.

Andie also got some beach time "being green" at the marine lab for a beach clean up on St. Patrick's Day.

As usual, we've had all sorts of other shenanigans in the past month. We've donned silly hats ...

... and silly faces.

We've enjoyed time with the dog ...

... and the dog has enjoyed time in the creek (look for the giant pink tongue in the middle of the photo).

We've had sand between our toes (and other places, too) ...

... and splashed in the pool.

We've eaten meat at "Hops" ...

... flatbread at the wine bar ...

... and cheese and crackers and Nana and Papa's.

We've had baths to remove the evidence of all of our eating ...

... and baths to give Kristin a chance to submit proposals for saving an endangered species when daycare is closed.

Kristin has gotten to play with liquid nitrogen ...

... and Jason has gotten to play with fire.

Kristin and Papa were super fortunate to get to see the dress rehearsal performance of Hamilton at the Orpheum in San Francisco ...

... and all of us are super fortunate to see Andie's dress rehearsals daily.

We've jammed out to rock-n-roll ...

... and discovered Andie's love of 90's rap (please ignore the goon on the right).

Andie has started to have more opinions about the outfits she wants to wear ...

... as well as the ones she doesn't want to wear.

We've had relaxing times drinking tea together ...

... and Jason had some not-so-relaxing time as the butt of an April Fool's Day prank.

It's been such an amazing month, that sometimes we fell asleep at the lunch table.

We can't wait for what the next month, and all of Andie's third year, have in store!

Deck reconstruction

The deck attached to the Herilino Annex was rotting away, so Uncle Chuck visited again to help give it an overhaul. Uncle Joe and cousin Karen generously helped out, and baby Andie even chipped in! Making a plan Demo nearly completed Adding new boards Finishing up the new railing Breaking for beer and strawberries More demo-ing Kristin and Andie were a little scared for Uncle Joe up there on those narrow old boards! Turning a deck into a roof Andie even helped to finish it all off! Ha, just kidding!  That's Jason's Cabbage Patch doll up there. Did you really think Jason would carry the baby on the roof? Sheesh, what kind of parents do you think Kristin and Jason are? Jason and Elden This post was created especially for Nana and Grandma Jane. Our apologies for any adverse health effects it may have triggered.

Changes

There have been a lot of changes over the past six weeks in the Herilino household. Perhaps the biggest is that Nani and Papa moved out! We were so happy to take them in after the fire, and we are even happier that they have found a new place of their own to call home (especially because it isn't in Iowa). They are again just a short drive away in Santa Rosa, and they even promised to still babysit one day a week. Nani and Papa really enjoyed spreading out after being relegated to such tight quarters at the Herilino house. Although they didn't have too much stuff to move, Andie helped them unpack some of their new things. She liked how the packing material stuck to their clean windows. They don't have much in the way of furniture yet either, but Nani and Papa made sure Andie felt comfortable by stocking their house with new toys, a kid's table, and a potty seat. We are already having lots of fun hanging out there. Andie loved trying ou...

Pizza & ready to crawl

Andie added pizza to her list of foods yesterday, doing right by her New York family heritage. Kristin spent her first night away from Andie last night to throw a bachelorette party for Auntie Ellie. Everyone survived! Andie seems to be pretty close to crawling these days, making Kristin and Jason wonder if they're going to have to dedicate some time to better baby-proofing soon.
