Jack is two months old!
For his squid pictures, he sported a flannel shirt embroidered by Jason's Aunt Pam with his name and sea critters.
We also managed to snap a few more 3-year squid pictures of Andie in slightly better lighting. It took some coaxing though.
Jason and Kristin even posed with Andie's squid to try to get her interested.
Andie was finally convinced she wanted to be silly like her mom.
She did, however, repeatedly drop the squid in continued protest.
We still managed to get some cute shots though.
We also took some photos with the whole family, which Andie agreed to only if she could hold her doll and her fig roll.
Here are some comparisons of our family over the past three years.
We had a fun Easter celebration. Nani got a bunch of wonderful supplies for decorating eggs with Andie. Andie decorated two before losing interest.
Nani and Kristin enjoyed decorating the rest. Kristin made an obligate abalone egg.
The Easter Bunny left a bunch of awesome clues for Andie to find her treats.
He hid eggs in the sandbox.
He hid eggs in the fire pit.
He hid eggs in the horseshoe pit and in the garden.
He hid eggs in Andie's Jeep, in the oven, in Hawkeye's closet, in the top bunk of Andie's bunk bed, and on the piano.
He left the final stash in the dryer.
Andie was super excited about her new PEZ dispenser.
We all had fun sporting some Easter Bunny accessories.
After the scavenger hunt, we went on a walk in the beautiful weather.
Andie, Jason, and Papa took a detour to the park for some swinging.
Despite the Easter distraction, Kristin did not forget to pull an April Fool's joke on Jason by wrapping a rubber band around the sink sprayer for the second year in a row. It's hard to tell in this picture, but he is very wet.
Jason got revenge though, when Kristin came a little too close while trying to document her prank.
Hawkeye missed out on much of the Easter fun, as he was recovering from surgery to remove a large tumor from his hindquarters and was on strict orders for minimal activity.
As awful as the cone has been for Hawkeye, everyone else was mostly relieved that he only needed to have a drain for the first four days: It made the entire house look like a crime scene. Hawkeye doesn't seem to be bothered too much by the cone, and he will hopefully be done with it, as well as his activity restrictions, on Tuesday. Two whole weeks of being cooped up is no fun!
There was no daycare last week due to spring break, so Andie and Tashi's parents did a swap with them. On Tuesday, Andie spent the day with Tashi, Jay, and Naomi, and had a blast at the Children's Museum.
Afterward, they had Kristin and Jack over for dinner at while Jason played basketball.
Later in the week, Team Herilino hosted Tashi. Jason took the girls to Gold Coast Bakery to eat some sweet treats and play around the old trains.
After waiting for a short downpour to pass, they spent a little time at the beach.
Sometimes when Andie and Tashi spend the whole day together, they need a short break from one another. While Tashi had some requested time alone, Andie posted watch outside the door and pretended to take a nap.
Jack especially loved the concert Andie and Tashi put on for him once they were ready to hang out again.
The girls did a little finger painting to round out the day.
A huge storm passed through at the end of the week, dumping loads of rain and resulting in lots of road closures.
Around 5:30 Friday morning, just after Jason changed Jack's diaper and Kristin was about to nurse him, there was a large crack behind their bedroom and the sound of a tree falling. It was very scary, even though Kristin and Jason knew they had removed the trees that posed the biggest threat to their house. The Douglas fir that fell was relatively small (but still huge), and fell about 20 yards away from the house. The blue peeking through the middle of the photo below is Kristin and Jason's bedroom.
Papa mentioned he had thought he heard thunder about an hour before that. Turns out an even larger tree fell a few yards in the other direction.
As great as it was to have the precipitation, hopefully that's all the tree falling for a while!
Thanks to our emergency 'stache stash (thanks, Beth!), we had some fun indoors during all of the rain.
Other than the storm, we've had an amazing stretch of warm, sunny weather, which is apparently very conducive for princess attire.
The sunny weather has also been good for cruising.
Andie even tried to teach Jack to drive. He wasn't so sure about it.
At two months old, Jack continues to be a super chill baby. He's getting really great head control and loves pushing up on his feet. He's tracking people and sounds, and especially loves watching Andie. He also drools a lot.
