Happy Thanksgiving!

Preparation for Thanksgiving started out with some artwork from daycare. Andie had some trouble figuring out what to do with the crayon, but she managed some lines with the help of one of her friends.

In other artwork excitement, Uncle Ben also completed adding portholes to Andie's nursery door. The door looks AMAZING, and the whole family feels super honored to have such fantastic artwork in the house.

Andie continued her first Thanksgiving experience with a trip to Costco to help Kristin and Jason buy a couple of turkeys to deep fry.

Kristin and Jason though that Hawkeye also deserved a Thanksgiving bird. He began processing it promptly.

He was generous enough to share a drumstick with Andie.

On Thanksgiving Day, Andie made sure to dress for the occasion (thanks, Piper!). Her new shoes from Nana even matched her outfit.

It was a grand, deep-fried affair!

Pounding abalone

Andie was super happy to get to spend her first Thanksgiving with such wonderful family and friends, including some she got to meet for the first time: Laurance and Rachel visited from Oakland, and Sean and Lauren visited all the way from Bend, Oregon. Kristin enjoyed being with her parents on Thanksgiving for the first time in a decade.

(The only unwelcome guests were some ants that showed up to clean the floor the day after Thanksgiving. Although Kristin and Jason remain vastly outnumbered, they're still hoping that their superior arsenal will lead them to victory.)

The day after Thanksgiving, Team Herilino took a walk with Sean and Lauren.

Cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes to a 12-0 season finish was a great way to end the holiday! Go Hawks!

Deck reconstruction

The deck attached to the Herilino Annex was rotting away, so Uncle Chuck visited again to help give it an overhaul. Uncle Joe and cousin Karen generously helped out, and baby Andie even chipped in! Making a plan Demo nearly completed Adding new boards Finishing up the new railing Breaking for beer and strawberries More demo-ing Kristin and Andie were a little scared for Uncle Joe up there on those narrow old boards! Turning a deck into a roof Andie even helped to finish it all off! Ha, just kidding!  That's Jason's Cabbage Patch doll up there. Did you really think Jason would carry the baby on the roof? Sheesh, what kind of parents do you think Kristin and Jason are? Jason and Elden This post was created especially for Nana and Grandma Jane. Our apologies for any adverse health effects it may have triggered.

Changes

There have been a lot of changes over the past six weeks in the Herilino household. Perhaps the biggest is that Nani and Papa moved out! We were so happy to take them in after the fire, and we are even happier that they have found a new place of their own to call home (especially because it isn't in Iowa). They are again just a short drive away in Santa Rosa, and they even promised to still babysit one day a week. Nani and Papa really enjoyed spreading out after being relegated to such tight quarters at the Herilino house. Although they didn't have too much stuff to move, Andie helped them unpack some of their new things. She liked how the packing material stuck to their clean windows. They don't have much in the way of furniture yet either, but Nani and Papa made sure Andie felt comfortable by stocking their house with new toys, a kid's table, and a potty seat. We are already having lots of fun hanging out there. Andie loved trying ou...

Pizza & ready to crawl

Andie added pizza to her list of foods yesterday, doing right by her New York family heritage. Kristin spent her first night away from Andie last night to throw a bachelorette party for Auntie Ellie. Everyone survived! Andie seems to be pretty close to crawling these days, making Kristin and Jason wonder if they're going to have to dedicate some time to better baby-proofing soon.
