Happy Easter!

The weather has been nice lately, so we've been enjoying lots of time outside. Andie loves climbing and lounging in the chair Uncle Chuck made for her.

We've also spent some time playing in the whale pool.

The nice weather made Nana so nostalgic for the midwest that she made some of the fake snow Kristin and Jason got her for Christmas. It was pretty gross and nothing like real snow.

Now that Andie is proficient at walking, she has decided to tackle driving next. Here she is practicing in a flashy red sports car at the grocery store.

Jason scored some more fresh Dungeness and was generous enough to share it with Nana and Papa last weekend.

Nana brought over some photos this week of Kristin from when she was Andie's age. It looks like Kristin was just as skeptical as Andie was about her first birthday treat:

Kristin 1984

We had a low-key Easter. Andie wore her Easter Bunny outfit.

She also played with a basket of real live Easter grass from Janet, her daycare provider.

We have all been enjoying really nice snuggles from Andie lately. Here she is giving some to Nana while serenading her at the same time.

We have had to watch Andie carefully lately to make sure she doesn't put too many inedible things in her mouth -- she just wants to try everything! Earlier this week, Andie did a great job of not putting too much gravel in her mouth while Kristin was weeding the path at the bottom of the steps outside. Kristin didn't realize until changing Andie's diaper hours later, however, that instead of putting rocks in her mouth, Andie had been stashing large handfuls of them down her shirt. Maybe she's practicing wearing extra weight around her waist for when Jason takes her diving for the first time.

Deck reconstruction

The deck attached to the Herilino Annex was rotting away, so Uncle Chuck visited again to help give it an overhaul. Uncle Joe and cousin Karen generously helped out, and baby Andie even chipped in! Making a plan Demo nearly completed Adding new boards Finishing up the new railing Breaking for beer and strawberries More demo-ing Kristin and Andie were a little scared for Uncle Joe up there on those narrow old boards! Turning a deck into a roof Andie even helped to finish it all off! Ha, just kidding!  That's Jason's Cabbage Patch doll up there. Did you really think Jason would carry the baby on the roof? Sheesh, what kind of parents do you think Kristin and Jason are? Jason and Elden This post was created especially for Nana and Grandma Jane. Our apologies for any adverse health effects it may have triggered.

Changes

There have been a lot of changes over the past six weeks in the Herilino household. Perhaps the biggest is that Nani and Papa moved out! We were so happy to take them in after the fire, and we are even happier that they have found a new place of their own to call home (especially because it isn't in Iowa). They are again just a short drive away in Santa Rosa, and they even promised to still babysit one day a week. Nani and Papa really enjoyed spreading out after being relegated to such tight quarters at the Herilino house. Although they didn't have too much stuff to move, Andie helped them unpack some of their new things. She liked how the packing material stuck to their clean windows. They don't have much in the way of furniture yet either, but Nani and Papa made sure Andie felt comfortable by stocking their house with new toys, a kid's table, and a potty seat. We are already having lots of fun hanging out there. Andie loved trying ou...

Pizza & ready to crawl

Andie added pizza to her list of foods yesterday, doing right by her New York family heritage. Kristin spent her first night away from Andie last night to throw a bachelorette party for Auntie Ellie. Everyone survived! Andie seems to be pretty close to crawling these days, making Kristin and Jason wonder if they're going to have to dedicate some time to better baby-proofing soon.
