Dairy state

Kristin had a wonderful trip to America's Dairyland over the 4th of July weekend to visit her good friends Melissa and Mike, who just had a new baby.

It was nice to fly over the Midwest and see all the green!

Mike and Melissa served up a very Wisconsin welcome.

Kristin enjoyed getting lots of snuggies from baby Holly.

She even got some nice smiles!

It was fun remembering when she visited Lorelei at the same age.

Kristin, Melissa, and the girls enjoyed a wonderful trip to the Madison Farmers Market.

Kristin was super excited about eating some fresh cheese curds!

Squeeky dairy. Yum.

For Kristin's birthday, Lorelei took her on her first ever trip to the Henry Vilas Zoo. It was cool to see all the animals, and Lorelei loved riding the carousel and the train.

Kristin got to enjoy lots of Dairy Queen on her birthday weekend.

We celebrated the 4th of July with a parade and some sparklers.

Lorelei favored the one-legged sparker approach, which she taught Melissa.

Kristin did some cooking for everyone to try to be helpful, including making cookies and pizza.

Lorelei showed off her pancake-making skills, which required some box slapping.

Kristin had fun introducing Lorelei to Snapchat.

Mike, Melissa, and Holly even got in on some of the Snapchat action.

It was a wonderful trip, and Kristin felt so happy to get to spend her birthday weekend with such dear friends. She was also excited to learn new parenting tricks from them to take home and use on Andie.

It seemed necessary to also take home cheesehead for Andie, so she picked one up at the airport.

Mmmm, dairy!

Jason made sure to keep Kristin up to date on all the happenings at home while she was away.

Jason, Andie, and Hawkeye had a nice evening at the farmhouse with James and Ellie.

Andie even expressed some of her Midwest roots by taking a spin on the John Deere.

Andie sported some red, white, and blue for the 4th celebrations.

Bree and Andie read Pete the SCUBA Cat.

Andie continued to enjoy shoes as much as ever, and was happy Kristin left some of her shoes at home for her to walk around in.

Andie also sported some new clothing, including some PJs covered in sharks ...

... and the Oshkosh overalls from Ann Marie and Jeff.

What does the monkey say?

Andie's animal sound repertoire is expanding rapidly. She can tell you what dogs, cats, cows, lions, sheep, and monkeys say.

We've had some fun nights out to eat at Barley and Hops lately.

Andie loves their creamy soups.

Diary is delicious.

Andie also seems to love shining the windows with her face.

Luckily for Team Herilino's health, there is some non-dairy food in their lives, like at the Occidental Farmers Market we've been frequenting with friends.

The fruit in our yard is also starting to ripen. Andie loves the cherry plums.

In addition to the health benefits provided by occasional non-dairy food consumption, Team Herilino also has pretty good oral hygiene. Thanks, Papa!

It's hard work being so diary-obsessed!

Changes

There have been a lot of changes over the past six weeks in the Herilino household. Perhaps the biggest is that Nani and Papa moved out! We were so happy to take them in after the fire, and we are even happier that they have found a new place of their own to call home (especially because it isn't in Iowa). They are again just a short drive away in Santa Rosa, and they even promised to still babysit one day a week. Nani and Papa really enjoyed spreading out after being relegated to such tight quarters at the Herilino house. Although they didn't have too much stuff to move, Andie helped them unpack some of their new things. She liked how the packing material stuck to their clean windows. They don't have much in the way of furniture yet either, but Nani and Papa made sure Andie felt comfortable by stocking their house with new toys, a kid's table, and a potty seat. We are already having lots of fun hanging out there. Andie loved trying ou...

Farmhouse

Team Herilino had a fun-filled trip to the little red farmhouse this weekend to see wonderful friends. Andie got to see her buddy Sam, who she hadn't seen since she was six months old. Andie and Sam, July 2016 Andie and Sam, September 2015 They got reaquainted via some hand touching. It was the perfect coastal summer day. We ate some tasty food -- Andie particularly enjoyed the strawberries. Andie showed everyone how to boogie to the music. They picked up her instruction quickly. Jason taught Andie to skateboard. Andie was very excited to join the big kids for a round of frisbee golf on the hillsides beyond the fence. The frisbee crew She loved riding the wagon full of discs back to the house. Steve took some drone footage of the surroundings while we were golfing (you can see the footage here: https://www.skypixel.com/share/video/the-farm-house-171c2db9-64b8-486c-bb59-8c4...

More visitors and first real bath

Andie met Uncle Joe and Auntie Sue yesterday. It was wonderful to have them visit, and we wish they could have stayed longer! They brought some delicious Kalua Pork and lemon bars, and even made a run to Wild Flour Bread this morning for some breakfast treats! Andie had her first bath in her infant tub last night, and she loved it! She lost her umbilical cord stump a little over a week ago, so she can finally submerge her cute little belly button. She's clearly well on her way to dive training!
