Brought to you by the letter P

We had a fun week of pumpkins, pirates, pups, ponies, parties, puddles, and playing! Jason even let his inner psycho come out as we were gutting the gourds.

From the photos, it would seem that Andie's favorite part of pumpking carving was giving us instructions ...

... but really, she liked stirring the seeds the best.

We think they turned out pretty good!

Andie got a hand-me-down costume from Nate for Halloween, which she's tried on a couple of times this week.

She wasn't too keen on showing off her tail.

Bear on a horse!

The first of many puddles Andie encountered over the past week was a particularly big puddle called the Russian River. She had fun splashing and playing alongside Hawkeye.

Andie also played some fetch with Hawkeye at home.

Jason gave her a surf lesson for their next beach trip.

The whole family was excited for Andie's new pirate ship tent to show up in Monday's mail! Setting it up was a good demonstration of one of many times the "-ilino" part of Team Herilino really takes over ... Jason and Nana kept their distance.

Andie loves the tent, and she is very inviting about sharing her tent space with anyone except for big brother Hawkeye.

Thanks to Sophie, on Thursday Andie got to meet some horses up close for the first time! She was impressed with how big they were, especially their eyes and ears.

Andie also had fun driving the big tractor.

Kristin, Andie, and Hawkeye spent some solo time this weekend while Jason, Papa, Grandpa, and others went fishing at Lake Almanor. The weather wasn't great, but they still managed to catch a few fish.

On Friday, Kristin and Andie went to a party with some friends. Kristin mildly tortured Andie during the group photo.

On Saturday, Andie, Kristin and Nana finally made it over to the Sonoma County Children's Museum. Andie was really excited about the choo choo trains there!

She also really liked playing with the calculator on this activity board.

She had a tea party with some teddy bears.

She even went to the dentist's office. It actually marked her second trip to the dentist's office last week, as her first trip to the real dentist was on Tuesday. She did great!

Kristin appreciated the wall of animal teeth.

Andie liked playing in the dragonfly helicopter outside. She even made sure she was safely buckled up while she was in the driver's seat...

... sticking her head out the window was probably slightly less safe.

She liked all the buttons inside, but clearly thought they should be doing more beeping.

She enjoyed driving the John Deere.

Her second round of puddle jumping for the week was definitely the wettest! She loved splashing in the water with the other kids!

We'll definitely have to make it back to the museum soon.

Kristin and Andie visited Aunt Ellie and Uncle James at the Farmhouse today. To prepare, Kristin had Andie practice saying Ellie and James's names last night.

There was more puddle jumping fun at the Farmhouse.

There was some swinging (Kristin only allowed Andie to faceplant off the swing once, and Andie recovered quickly and immediately asked to get back on like the champ she is!)...

... and some sliding.

We also walked over the beach.

When Andie and Kristin were about to leave, a spectacular double rainbow appeared in the sky!

For most people, rainbows and puppy dogs would both rank among the happiest things in life. Apparently Andie's list is unconventional.

For the rest of us, it was a fabulous way to end the weekend!

Deck reconstruction

The deck attached to the Herilino Annex was rotting away, so Uncle Chuck visited again to help give it an overhaul. Uncle Joe and cousin Karen generously helped out, and baby Andie even chipped in! Making a plan Demo nearly completed Adding new boards Finishing up the new railing Breaking for beer and strawberries More demo-ing Kristin and Andie were a little scared for Uncle Joe up there on those narrow old boards! Turning a deck into a roof Andie even helped to finish it all off! Ha, just kidding!  That's Jason's Cabbage Patch doll up there. Did you really think Jason would carry the baby on the roof? Sheesh, what kind of parents do you think Kristin and Jason are? Jason and Elden This post was created especially for Nana and Grandma Jane. Our apologies for any adverse health effects it may have triggered.

Changes

There have been a lot of changes over the past six weeks in the Herilino household. Perhaps the biggest is that Nani and Papa moved out! We were so happy to take them in after the fire, and we are even happier that they have found a new place of their own to call home (especially because it isn't in Iowa). They are again just a short drive away in Santa Rosa, and they even promised to still babysit one day a week. Nani and Papa really enjoyed spreading out after being relegated to such tight quarters at the Herilino house. Although they didn't have too much stuff to move, Andie helped them unpack some of their new things. She liked how the packing material stuck to their clean windows. They don't have much in the way of furniture yet either, but Nani and Papa made sure Andie felt comfortable by stocking their house with new toys, a kid's table, and a potty seat. We are already having lots of fun hanging out there. Andie loved trying ou...

Pizza & ready to crawl

Andie added pizza to her list of foods yesterday, doing right by her New York family heritage. Kristin spent her first night away from Andie last night to throw a bachelorette party for Auntie Ellie. Everyone survived! Andie seems to be pretty close to crawling these days, making Kristin and Jason wonder if they're going to have to dedicate some time to better baby-proofing soon.
