Eighteen months old!

It has been a very busy month and a half for Team Herilino! We've been doing lots of celebrating dates and numbers.

18 months: Andie turned 18 months old in September. She now weighs 22 lbs, 15 oz, and she's 31.5 inches tall.

5 years: Kristin and Jason celebrated their 5th wedding anniversary. Nana and Papa treated them to some nice brandy, and Andie learned how to "cheers".

50 years: The marine lab celebrated its golden anniversary. Kristin got to show off her white abalone to some fancy people like Andie, Nana, and Congressman Mike Thompson.

Jason got to show off his diving gear at the festivities.

Kristin also gave a talk at the events. Andie slept through though the talks before Kristin's, and woke up when she heard Kristin's voice. Lots of people took photos of Andie watching Kristin's talk.

The family all did some traveling over the past few weeks. Jason went to Rhode Island for a meeting, where he ate some lobster.

11 weeks: After his meeting, he hopped over to New Hampshire to see his brother's family to help rein in their 11th week in their new home.

Kristin and Andie were sad to miss out on Nerf gun wars and spaetzle, but hope to make it out to see them all soon!

78 days: While Jason was away, Kristin and Andie celebrated Beth and Casey's 78th day of marriage by attending their wedding ceremony at Camp Whispering Pines. Kristin was hoping the party would warm Andie up to Casey since that didn't happen so much when Casey and Beth babysat Andie during the marine lab 50th events. Andie's still on the fence about Casey, but she loved playing with the other kids at the wedding.

She also really liked inserting herself in the cage around this fruit tree at Camp Whispering Pines.

Perhaps she was just trying to get away from her mother in anticipation of their photo booth experience.

After the festivities, Kristin and Andie pitched a tent for the night. Andie did a great job on her first camping adventure!

2 years: Andie had lots of fun celebrating her buddy Shayne's second birthday.

She especially liked wheeling around on his awesome mobile toys.

It's fun watching these two kiddos become more and more interactive as they grow!

In addition to celebrating lots of numbers, we've had all sorts of the usual shenanigans lately, including trips to the beach. Jason has a perfect little secluded beach just up the coast where he likes to take Andie and Hawkeye.

Andie does a nice job playing with Hawkeye, and she enjoys using her new favorite two-word combination, "No, mine!" on him whenever she gets the chance.

Andie loved playing on the marine lab beach during the 50th events.

Nana and Papa took her to Doran Beach to build sandcastles one day while Kristin and Jason worked.

Clearly, this kid never tires of expanding her gross motor skills, so Nana and Papa got Andie a new slide!

It's nice to have something to practice on at home between trips to the playground.

As Team Herilino goes, we've had lots of adventures with food over the past month and a half. We had some tasty fast food at Amy's Drive Thru.

Andie dressed up for Oktoberfest at Barley and Hops with a dress that Kristin's grandmother bought for Kristin on a trip to Switzerland many years ago.

We also did some dining in.

Andie loves making a mess when she eats, except when that mess is on Hawkeye.

Sometimes the squeeze pack gets too much squeeze

Andie is digging the smoothies Jason has been making for her.

Sometimes they make her look like the Joker.

Eating is slightly less messy when it is pretend ...

... and it can be slightly dangerous when collaborative.

Andie has been enjoying the bounty of the yard, especially the pums.

She has also become a bit obsessed with apples -- one of her new favorite words and foods. The apple orchard near our house was extra exciting because it also satisfied her dog obsession.

She really loves cats, too, and she got to meet John and Judith's cat recently. She gave it lots of kisses.

She also got to meet some of John's Legos, which she was less excited about, but we'll give her a couple more years for that obsession to develop.

Andie continues to love shoes and other accessories.

She does a great job of helping out on household projects.

I'm not sure what's going on here, but it must be helpful.
She takes advice well.

And she continues to improve her driving skills.

Sometimes, of course, she reminds us that she's nearing two...

... and sometimes we think she must throw toddler frat parties under our noses.

This is what our house looks like all the time now.

But mostly she's a complete joy ...

... and we have too much fun.

An exhausting amount of fun.

So, after what was likely the most epic blog post yet, we'll just leave you with Andie's most recent Snapchat:

Deck reconstruction

The deck attached to the Herilino Annex was rotting away, so Uncle Chuck visited again to help give it an overhaul. Uncle Joe and cousin Karen generously helped out, and baby Andie even chipped in! Making a plan Demo nearly completed Adding new boards Finishing up the new railing Breaking for beer and strawberries More demo-ing Kristin and Andie were a little scared for Uncle Joe up there on those narrow old boards! Turning a deck into a roof Andie even helped to finish it all off! Ha, just kidding!  That's Jason's Cabbage Patch doll up there. Did you really think Jason would carry the baby on the roof? Sheesh, what kind of parents do you think Kristin and Jason are? Jason and Elden This post was created especially for Nana and Grandma Jane. Our apologies for any adverse health effects it may have triggered.

Changes

There have been a lot of changes over the past six weeks in the Herilino household. Perhaps the biggest is that Nani and Papa moved out! We were so happy to take them in after the fire, and we are even happier that they have found a new place of their own to call home (especially because it isn't in Iowa). They are again just a short drive away in Santa Rosa, and they even promised to still babysit one day a week. Nani and Papa really enjoyed spreading out after being relegated to such tight quarters at the Herilino house. Although they didn't have too much stuff to move, Andie helped them unpack some of their new things. She liked how the packing material stuck to their clean windows. They don't have much in the way of furniture yet either, but Nani and Papa made sure Andie felt comfortable by stocking their house with new toys, a kid's table, and a potty seat. We are already having lots of fun hanging out there. Andie loved trying ou...

Pizza & ready to crawl

Andie added pizza to her list of foods yesterday, doing right by her New York family heritage. Kristin spent her first night away from Andie last night to throw a bachelorette party for Auntie Ellie. Everyone survived! Andie seems to be pretty close to crawling these days, making Kristin and Jason wonder if they're going to have to dedicate some time to better baby-proofing soon.
