New backpack

Santa came early to the Herilino House and brought Andie a new backpack. She loves it!

Kristin took it out for a spin yesterday and hiked around Bodega Head. It was cold and windy, but the sun shade offered a little breeze protection for Andie. She enjoyed looking at the beautiful scenery almost as much as she enjoyed playing with the tassle on Kristin's hat.

The above photo is a good demonstration of one of Andie's new favorite skills. She learned to point about a week ago, and now she hardly stops! She's even been caught sleeping with her pointers out.

Last night, we went to Nana and Papa's house to watch Iowa battle Michigan State for the Big 10 Championship. Although Iowa lost, we had a wonderful time hanging out. Andie even learned some new words from Papa... (It's probably a good thing she isn't speaking yet.)

Andie got to see her first Christmas tree at Nana and Papa's.

There was even one that was just her size with all non-breakable ornaments that she could play with. Nana and Papa are so thoughtful!

At halftime, we grilled some delicious pizzas.

The only thing that Andie misses during the weekends is that her favorite show, Jeopardy, isn't on.

Deck reconstruction

The deck attached to the Herilino Annex was rotting away, so Uncle Chuck visited again to help give it an overhaul. Uncle Joe and cousin Karen generously helped out, and baby Andie even chipped in! Making a plan Demo nearly completed Adding new boards Finishing up the new railing Breaking for beer and strawberries More demo-ing Kristin and Andie were a little scared for Uncle Joe up there on those narrow old boards! Turning a deck into a roof Andie even helped to finish it all off! Ha, just kidding!  That's Jason's Cabbage Patch doll up there. Did you really think Jason would carry the baby on the roof? Sheesh, what kind of parents do you think Kristin and Jason are? Jason and Elden This post was created especially for Nana and Grandma Jane. Our apologies for any adverse health effects it may have triggered.

Changes

There have been a lot of changes over the past six weeks in the Herilino household. Perhaps the biggest is that Nani and Papa moved out! We were so happy to take them in after the fire, and we are even happier that they have found a new place of their own to call home (especially because it isn't in Iowa). They are again just a short drive away in Santa Rosa, and they even promised to still babysit one day a week. Nani and Papa really enjoyed spreading out after being relegated to such tight quarters at the Herilino house. Although they didn't have too much stuff to move, Andie helped them unpack some of their new things. She liked how the packing material stuck to their clean windows. They don't have much in the way of furniture yet either, but Nani and Papa made sure Andie felt comfortable by stocking their house with new toys, a kid's table, and a potty seat. We are already having lots of fun hanging out there. Andie loved trying ou...

Pizza & ready to crawl

Andie added pizza to her list of foods yesterday, doing right by her New York family heritage. Kristin spent her first night away from Andie last night to throw a bachelorette party for Auntie Ellie. Everyone survived! Andie seems to be pretty close to crawling these days, making Kristin and Jason wonder if they're going to have to dedicate some time to better baby-proofing soon.
