Jack is one month old!

Jack turned one month old!

Here is a comparison of Jack and Andie at one month. There are definitely some similarities.

Andie is still really enjoying her baby brother. She loves to hold him in the Boppy.

It's really fun to watch them interact.

Andie helped give Jack had his first bottle of expressed milk on Monday. He wasn't sure about it at first, but he warmed up to it eventually.

Last Saturday we had a fun adventure in Sebastopol with Tashi and Jay. After a walk around the Farmers Market, we had lunch at Hip Chick Farms.

After lunch we headed over the Screamin' Mimi's for some ice cream. With Jay's assistance, Andie and Tashi took a creative route to get there.

Jack was more interested in snoozing than the ice cream.

He'll come around eventually!

After Screamin' Mimi's we stopped by the toy store so Andie and Tashi could play.

We took the scenic route back to the car.

Kristin took Jack on an adventure to the lab last Thursday to try to spawn some abalone.

Papa came out to help, too.

The abalone didn't spawn, but Jack had a fun time meeting lots of new people. He especially loved getting to say hello to Aunt Ellie again.

Jack was super impressed with the predictions everyone made about his entry into the outside world.

Dave came over earlier this week to say hello and pick up a futon.

Andie got to see Dave's bee hives when she helped Jason and Dave unload the futon at Dave's house.

Jill brought some delicious pasta over for everyone. [Insert Jack and Jill rhyme here.]

Annaliese also brought dinner over, and she made an incredible map or deciphering the enchilada arrangement.

Patty and Charlie came over to meet Jack and gift him some clothes. They also brought a new book for Andie as a big sister gift.

Other than extra visitors, we've experience the usual shenanigans lately.

Andie enjoyed playing with the cornstarch (and water) Patricia brought over for her.

She's also contributed some abstract art installations to the Herilino decor.

We tried to get her three-year squid photo, but the light was funny, so we'll probably try again soon.

Jack gets bigger and more expressive every day, and we continue to try to take photos of his every pose.

Deck reconstruction

The deck attached to the Herilino Annex was rotting away, so Uncle Chuck visited again to help give it an overhaul. Uncle Joe and cousin Karen generously helped out, and baby Andie even chipped in! Making a plan Demo nearly completed Adding new boards Finishing up the new railing Breaking for beer and strawberries More demo-ing Kristin and Andie were a little scared for Uncle Joe up there on those narrow old boards! Turning a deck into a roof Andie even helped to finish it all off! Ha, just kidding!  That's Jason's Cabbage Patch doll up there. Did you really think Jason would carry the baby on the roof? Sheesh, what kind of parents do you think Kristin and Jason are? Jason and Elden This post was created especially for Nana and Grandma Jane. Our apologies for any adverse health effects it may have triggered.

Changes

There have been a lot of changes over the past six weeks in the Herilino household. Perhaps the biggest is that Nani and Papa moved out! We were so happy to take them in after the fire, and we are even happier that they have found a new place of their own to call home (especially because it isn't in Iowa). They are again just a short drive away in Santa Rosa, and they even promised to still babysit one day a week. Nani and Papa really enjoyed spreading out after being relegated to such tight quarters at the Herilino house. Although they didn't have too much stuff to move, Andie helped them unpack some of their new things. She liked how the packing material stuck to their clean windows. They don't have much in the way of furniture yet either, but Nani and Papa made sure Andie felt comfortable by stocking their house with new toys, a kid's table, and a potty seat. We are already having lots of fun hanging out there. Andie loved trying ou...

Pizza & ready to crawl

Andie added pizza to her list of foods yesterday, doing right by her New York family heritage. Kristin spent her first night away from Andie last night to throw a bachelorette party for Auntie Ellie. Everyone survived! Andie seems to be pretty close to crawling these days, making Kristin and Jason wonder if they're going to have to dedicate some time to better baby-proofing soon.
